“Marvelous, I liked it a lot because I’ve learnt a lot.”

“Really interesting to hear stories about the history of our local area.”

“Great tour, excellent information, amusing to watch the people in the streets greeting the unusual sight of an Oxford Tour Bus.”

In October 2007, artist Katy Beinart gave an alternative guided tour of Oxford on an open-top sightseeing bus on a journey from Rose Hill to the city centre.

Instead of the usual sights of the tourist trail, the tour included hidden streams, vanished neighbourhoods and stories of the secret lives of Oxford residents.

The Alternative Bus Tour started from Rose Hill and visited Cowley, Blackbird Leys, East Oxford, City Centre and Jericho and was an opportunity to hear different stories about the places people live and work in. The tour ended in the city centre, with a chance to join in free family activities and an exhibition talk at Modern Art Oxford.

With thanks to City Sightseeing Oxford.
