SUMMER PLAY-SCHEME 2009
For the last three years Modern Art Oxford has been involved with Rose Hill's annual Summer Play-scheme. We re-visited the Play-scheme, this year held and organised by Rose Hill Primary School, with artist Dionne Barber.
Children attending the play-scheme worked with Dionne over three days on arts activities that responded to the themes within the paintings of Modern Art Oxford's exhibition Silke Otto-Knapp: Present Time Exercise. A large scale painting was produced on the final day by all the children.
The Play-scheme visited Modern Art Oxford the following week. One group had the chance to view the paintings that inspired their artwork and took part in activities in the gallery space. The second group made their own musical instruments, which were played by the children on the evening of Modern Art Oxford's Yard Party, 30 July 2009.
