Street Lights Postcard Pack
Street Lights was an Art in Rose Hill project that ran in the winter of 2007 and 2008. Artists Katy Beinart and Jo Huyg, inspired by the phenomenon of adorning the exterior of houses with an abundance of Christmas lights, worked with families and groups in Rose Hill to create unique lights that represented the interests of these individuals. The lights were installed on the homes and buildings of those involved and switched-on during the twilight hours, creating an outside exhibtion which could only be fully experienced in the hours of darkness.
Due to the success of Street Lights we have produced a postcard pack including an images of each of the 17 lights to celebrate the project. Packs are on sale in Modern Art Oxford's Shop for £5.
“Street Lights celebrates the interests, skills and stories of Rose Hill residents by putting them up in lights. The estate becomes a gallery and the houses with the lights the works of art.”
Jo Huyg
“The lights represent a snapshot of the unique life stories of people living in Rose Hill, and the project brought both strangers and residents to the streets to share those stories together.”
Katy Beinart
